Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of the Video Transcriber browser extension and this website (together, the “Service”), provided by the developer of Video Transcriber (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. The Service

Video Transcriber shows a video’s captions as text, transcribes a video’s audio (“Pro Transcription”: the whole video in a few minutes, or live streams in real time), writes AI summaries and answers questions about a video (“Summary”) and translates transcripts, in Google Chrome on desktop (version 138 or newer). Some features depend on Chrome capabilities and third-party services (such as Google Gemini), and on the website that plays the video. The Service cannot capture audio from DRM-protected players.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian, and able to enter into a binding agreement.

4. Accounts

The free tier works with an automatically created anonymous account. Buying a plan requires signing in with Google. Paid plans belong to that account. Keep your Google account secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.

5. Free tier

Captions (the Transcription tab), search, copy and export are free. Pro Transcription and Summary include 2 free uses in total. One use is one of these features on one video; repeating it on the same video is free, and a failed run is not counted. We may apply reasonable limits to prevent abuse (for example per network per day).

6. Paid plans and billing

• Lifetime ($99, one-time): unlimited Pro Transcription and Summary for as long as we offer Video Transcriber. “Lifetime” refers to the life of the product, not of a person.
• Yearly ($47.88 per year, shown as $3.99/month) and Monthly ($8.99 per month): subscriptions that renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled.
• Prices are in US dollars. Applicable taxes may be added where required. Payments are processed by Stripe under its terms.
• Fair use: to protect the service, cloud summaries and questions are limited to 200 per account per day (and per network), fast transcription to 10 hours of audio per account per day (and per network, and for the whole service), and translation to a daily amount of text. When a fast-transcription limit is reached, Pro Transcription runs in real time while the video plays, which has no daily limit.
• We may change prices for future periods. Subscribers will be told in advance and can cancel before the change takes effect. Price changes do not affect a Lifetime plan you have already bought.

7. Cancellation

You can cancel a subscription at any time from the extension (account menu → Manage subscription) or by writing to [email protected]. Cancellation stops future renewals, and access continues until the end of the period you have paid for.

8. Refunds

See the Refund Policy. It does not limit any rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

9. Acceptable use

Do not:

• use the Service to break the law or infringe the rights of others;
• try to bypass usage limits, payment or security (for example by automating accounts);
• reverse-engineer our server, overload it or resell access;
• use the Service in a way that violates the terms of the website where the video is hosted.

10. Content and copyright

Videos, captions and their transcripts belong to their rights holders. The Service helps you read and work with content you are already watching. You are responsible for how you use transcripts, summaries and exported files, including respecting copyright and platform terms. We claim no ownership of your transcripts or summaries.

11. AI output

Speech recognition and AI summaries can be incomplete or wrong, including names, numbers and timestamps. Check anything important against the video. Do not rely on the output for medical, legal, financial or other critical decisions.

12. Third-party services and sites

The Service works with websites and services we do not control (such as YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo, Google Chrome, Google Gemini and Stripe). Video Transcriber is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Changes they make can affect how the Service works, and we will make reasonable efforts to adapt.

13. Changes and availability

We may update, change or discontinue features. We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. If we permanently discontinue paid features, we will announce it in advance. Subscribers will not be charged for later periods. Lifetime purchases made within the 14 days before the announcement can be refunded on request.

14. Disclaimer

Except as required by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

15. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

16. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may suspend or terminate access for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms. If we terminate a paid plan without such a breach, we will refund the unused part.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where the operator is established, without affecting mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms and will change the effective date. We will announce material changes in advance. By continuing to use the Service after they take effect, you accept them.
